BOCHK names new chairman and non-executive director

Bank of China (Hong Kong) (BOCHK) has named Ge Haijiao (pictured) as its chairman, non-executive director, chairman of the strategy and budget committee of the company and its principal operating subsidiary, with effect from 27 April.
Ge will hold office until the next following annual general meeting of the company and shall then be eligible for reelection by the shareholders for a term of approximately three years. Ge has not entered any service contract with the company and yet formal letter of appointment from the non-executive director is in place to set out the key terms and conditions in relation to his appointment.
Ge joined the bank this year and is currently the chairman and executive director of Bank of China. Bank of China is the controlling shareholder of the BOCHK owning approximately 66.06% of the company’s issued shares.
He is also a director of BOC Hong Kong (BVI), being an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of Bank of China, and BOC Hong Kong (Group), being a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bank of China.
Prior to joining Bank of China, he served as a member of the standing committee of Hebei Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China and vice governor of Hebei Province from November 2021 to March 2023. From October 2016 to November 2018, he served as deputy general manager of China Everbright Group.
Prior to that, GE had worked in Agricultural Bank of China for many years, serving as deputy general manager of Dalian Branch, general manager of Singapore branch, deputy general manager of the international banking department of the head office and general manager of Heilongjiang branch.

Most recently, BOCHK has launched a new cross-border subsidiary brand "BOCHK Cross-Border GO", which provides one-stop cross-border financial services for customers traveling across China, Southeast Asia and overseas.
In order to raise awareness of the new brand, BOCHK has invited local singer Mike Tsang (曾比特) who always travels between the mainland and Hong Kong to work, as its cross-border brand ambassador, to amplify the message that BOCHK's cross-border wealth management is "one step away". A campaign video is also launched on YouTube.
