Former head of digital strategy and innovation for United Overseas Australia (UOA) group, Aida Lim has joined Berjaya Corporation as its head of digital transformation. In this role, she will be reporting to Farouk Abdullah, chief digital officer, Group Digital Division of Berjaya Corporation.
On LinkedIn, While Lim (pictured) expressed her excitement for the new opportunity ahead of her, she said that it felt bittersweet to leave the great working relationships she has forged with the team at UOA. "For sure, UOA has allowed me to grow in ways I could have never imagined. The decision to leave was not easy, and the people are the hardest part to walk away from", Lim added. A+M has reached out to Lim for additional information for her new role in Berjaya Corporation Group. In a LinkedIn blog post, Lim notes that she discovered her calling for the digital scene four to five years ago when she prepositioned the management to take on digitalisation as a strategic step towards the company's future-readiness.
Helming the role of head of digital strategy and innovation for over a decade, Lim was responsible for the overall management digital strategy and other innovation-related projects. Focusing on digital innovation and internet marketing, Lim assessed and anticipates emerging technology for the firm. She then recommended appropriate actions and resources that are best aligned with the company's objectives. She is also responsible for developing the internet marketing strategy and framework for the company's digital platform.
Additionally, Lim was also responsible for all UOA-managed Cybercentres in areas such as Bangsar South City, UOA Damansara, and UOA Business Park. Other than taking the lead in new Cybercentre applications, Lim also develops strong relationships with the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and other strategic organisation partners.
Prior to her time in UOA group, Lim has accumulated over 12 years' worth of managerial experience under her belt. Lim held the role of senior manager, strategy consulting practice at Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) for seven years. When in MDEC, Lim was involved in numerous projects such as the "Strategic ICT Roadmap for Malaysia", "National Strategic eCommerce Directions Study", and among others. In all these projects, Lim served as the role of project manager. Additionally, she also served the role of a senior manager in AsiaTravelMart for 3 years and 2 years in Webworks.
Aside from Lim, Berjaya has made several other hires to its leadership teams. Earlier this week, Vijayaratnam Tharumartnam joined the company as its chief communications officer. In this newly created role, Tharumartnam reports to group chief executive officer, Jalil Rasheed. Tharumartnam is responsible for the strategic direction and operational performance for all aspects of communications of the BCorp Group.
