Baby Shark gets viewers bobbing heads with 35-minute climate change playlist

Baby Shark's parent firm, The Pinkfong Company, is celebrating Earth Day 2022 with its new playlist "Earth Day with Pinkfong and Baby Shark". The 35-minute-long playlist comprises a climate change content series aimed at inspiring families to take small but significant actions to help protect the environment.

Through a series of 15 videos, Pinkfong and Baby Shark aim to educate viewers on the importance of preserving the earth and habits to improve the environment. With the playlist including "The Scary Mr. Greenhouse Gas!" and "Buzzy Buzzy Bees", the company wants audiences to learn how to reduce waste and emissions and conserve endangered species. The full playlist is available in English, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, German, and Portuguese.

At the same time, the company has also partnered with Hong Kong-based non-profit organisation, A Plastic Ocean Foundation (APO), to support Only One Ocean Flag Day 2022, a charity event to conserve the ocean hosted by APO. As part of the collaboration, both parties unveiled a series of high-quality flag stickers and collectibles, including the Baby Shark RPET lunchbags made from post-consumer recycled PET bottles. The Pinkfong Company has focused on bringing fun and creative ways to help raise awareness about environmental sustainability. The company has produced 85 videos under this environmental series which has 15 million cumulative views.

Meanwhile, companies are increasingly pushing the sustainability agenda, from pledging zero waste to net zero carbon emissions. However, the buck does not stop there.

In fact, there is a demand for green talent and green skills. LinkedIn defines green skills as those that enable the environmental sustainability of economic activities. Green talent is an individual who has explicitly added green skills to their LinkedIn profile and/or are working in a green or greening job. Green jobs are those that cannot be performed without extensive knowledge of green skills.

According to LinkedIn's Global Green Skills Report, the average job in the US, UK, and Australia uses roughly two to three times more green skills than the average job globally. At the same time, half of the top 10 in-demand green skills match the most popular skills among the green workforce, including sustainability, renewable energy, environmental awareness, environment, health and safety, and CSR.

In Singapore, the report found that the role of sustainability manager has seen the fastest growth (41%), more so than the APAC average (28.6%). It was also listed in LinkedIn's Jobs on the Rise 2022 report as the top emerging job in the market. Yet, the market's second fastest-growing green job in Singapore, safety manager, falls further behind with only a 14% growth.
