AS Watson promotes Andrew Ma to chief digital officer

AS Watson Group has promoted Andrew Ma (pictured) to its chief digital officer for Asia effective immediately. Ma will report to group CEO Malina Ngai.

In his new role, Ma has been tasked to lead the acceleration of online business growth in Asia, collaborate closely with different departments to enhance the offline plus online (O+O) experience and drive customer loyalty.

Prior to his new role, Ma served as the chief technology officer, eLab Asia for AS Watson. He also first joined AS Watson in 2012 as the head of store systems.

“Andrew brings a wealth of experience in the digital and technology space and has made significant contributions to the group since joining AS Watson in 2012, spearheading the development of integrated O+O customer experience,” said AS Watson on LinkedIn.

As AS Watson beefs up their leadership roster, Ngai was promoted to group CEO, effective from 1 May 2024. Ngai currently holds the position of group chief operating officer, AS Watson, and CEO, AS Watson Asia and Europe.

She will report to Dominic Lai, group co-managing director of CK Hutchison and group managing director of AS Watson, who assumes the position of chairman of AS Watson. All senior leaders who currently report to Lai will report to Ngai.

Back in March, to align with the “Inspire Inclusion” theme of International Women’s Day, AS Watson and its 12 retail brands launched a series of women empowerment activities for both their people and customers across 28 markets.

Watsons kicked off with "Our time is now" campaign on 8 March, furthering the commitment to empowering women to be their true selves. Throughout the month, Watsons engaged the community through a range of activities.
