Archetype has promoted Radiance Leong (pictured left) and Owen Waters (pictured right) to deputy managing consultant for its Malaysia and Singapore offices respectively. The promotions recognise the roles Leong and Waters have played in Archetype's growth in Southeast Asia, as well as their capable client consultancy and team leadership, the agency said in a statement.
Both will work with their respective managing consultants, Lee Tiam Siang in Malaysia and Mabel Chiang in Singapore, to safeguard revenue streams and business continuity, while supporting a productive workforce that is working remotely.
Leong joined the team in 2009 as a junior consultant. Over the past 11 years, she has played a crucial role in leading some of Archetype's major pitches and campaigns. These included launching Taman Tugu by Khazanah Nasional, helping Boston Scientific establish its manufacturing presence in Malaysia and working with Madame Tussauds Hong Kong to immortalise the country’s badminton legend Lee Chong Wei as a wax figure later this year. Archetype said she has also contributed significantly to employee growth and development in Malaysia, as well as across the region with innovative and creative people development programmes.
Meanwhile, Waters joined the Singapore team in 2016 from integrated London-based agency Nelson Bostock Unlimited. He has since played pivotal roles in adding several brands to its portfolio, including Stripe, Amazon, Rolls Royce and PropertyGuru. Waters also leads the integrated planning team for Singapore and provides clients across the board with strategic consultative advice on delivering successful integrated communications programmes. The agency explained that the integrated marketing communications portfolio makes up almost half of its revenue in Singapore, and is expected to continue growing this year.
MD of Southeast Asia Yeow Mei Ling said defined succession plans are essential to building resilient leadership teams and where possible the agency has always grown its leaders from within. "We identified the real potential in Leong and Waters and have developed them toward taking up deeper and wider responsibilities within the management teams," she added.
Yeow added that these are well-deserved promotions and she has every confidence that its teams backed by the reinforced management line-up in Malaysia and Singapore, will continue to deliver the counsel and support clients need during this period and into recovery.
Archetype was formed last year following the merger between Bite and Text100. Regional director APAC, Lee Nugent, said then that Archetype builds on the decades of client experience both Text100 and Bite have gained while driving campaigns around the globe.
