Apple will look into building a manufacturing facility in Indonesia, CEO Tim Cook reportedly said after his meeting with Indonesia president Joko Widodo.
The CEO of the tech giant arrived in Jakarta on Tuesday after visiting Vietnam and reportedly told media of the president's desire to see manufacturing in the country.

Currently Apple does not have a manufacturing facility in Indonesia. However, it had set up an app developer academy in Jakarta in 2018.
Indonesia's industry minister, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita reportedly told reporters that if Apple decided to build a manufacturing facility in Indonesia, it would have the capacity to produce for export.
He also reportedly added that Apple's facility in Indonesia could also become a global supply chain. In addition, Apple could also partner with Indonesian companies to obtain components, said Kartasasmita.
Meanwhile, Indonesia has welcomed its fourth academy in the country as Apple deepens its investment in students and aspiring developers.
The fourth Apple Developer Academy will open in Bali. It's nine-month program will cover the basics of coding, as well as areas such as design, marketing and project management.
To encourage cross-cultural exchange, the Bali campus will accept applications not just from Indonesia, but across the globe, regardless of educational background of coding experience.
“We’ve seen many times over that a line of code can change the world — and in Indonesia, we’re investing in the creativity and skills of people determined to prove it,” said Cook in a statement.
“We’re excited by the growing developer community in Indonesia, and we look forward to investing in the success of even more coders with our fourth academy in the country.”
