Animoca Brands partners with Hex Trust to launch NFT-centric custodial wallet solution

Animoca Brands and Hex Trust, an institutional-grade digital asset custodian licensed across financial hubs including Hong Kong, Singapore, Dubai, and Italy, have partnered up to launch Gryfyn, a joint venture to provide an innovative custodial wallet solution focused on onboarding users to Web3.
Gryfyn’s custodial crypto wallet offers users a secure Web3 experience built on Hex Trust’s licensed and insured institutional-grade infrastructure. The wallet is an NFT-centric multi-chain wallet with bank-grade security that enables users to interact easily and securely across multiple blockchains and Web3 products.
In a conversation with MARKETING-INTERACTIVE, Gryfyn's spokesperson said it aims to reach Web2 audiences who may have heard of Web3 but haven't tried it yet, "Web3 onboarding has not been easy, and Gryfyn hopes to alleviate some of the barriers to entry." Gryfyn is also available in most regions around the world and we look to have it available in multiple languages later in the year.
For Gryfyn's first year phased launch, Gryfyn is focusing its energy on curating experiences that matter to the broader audience, such as fan experiences, practical experiences (such a NFT ticketing), and experiences in partnership with beloved brands.
In terms of how it can impact marketers and advertisings, the spokesperson said: "Thinking about new ways to present the kind of experiences that Web3 can unlock is a worthy challenge for anyone building in the space right now. Gryfyn is focused on creating a product that can be simple for anyone anywhere to use, and curating experiences that can be fun, rewarding or useful for people."
Gryfyn has completed a fundraise of US$7.5m from backers that include Liberty City Ventures, GameFi Ventures, Lavender Hill Capital Partners, Mind Fund, Animoca Ventures, LeadBlock Partners, Angel Hub, Brinc, as well as angel investors including Gabby Dizon.
Meanwhile, Arnoldo Concepción, the co-COO of Animoca Brands, has been named the CEO of Gryfyn. He said: “We want to connect people to new experiences. Gryfyn is a digital passport that connects anyone anywhere with their favorite experiences, whether it's in games, sports, music, education, transportation or anything else. We’re really excited to onboard the mass market to great and secure Web3 experiences.”
Following a successful soft launch at Hong Kong Fintech Week in November 2022, Gryfyn has signed on global partners and will be rolling out new features and activation events throughout 2023.
Yat Siu, executive chairman and co-founder of Animoca Brands, highlighted the importance of Gryfyn in the mission to bring digital property rights to a wider audience, "Gryfyn is a major part of our efforts to bring mass adoption closer by providing high-quality user experiences on top-tier products in the open metaverse, where true digital ownership is finally possible. It's also important because we want our users' data to be protected at all times - something that only a specialized service like Gryfyn can provide.”
Alessio Quaglini, the CEO and co-founder of Hex Trust said the launch of Gryfyn represents another milestone towards fulfilling Hex Trust’s mission to unlock ownership in decentralised markets while providing unparalleled security measures, “Gryfyn will become even more important given the increasing number of partnerships we have coming up over the next few months," Quaglini added.
