Ampersand Advisory has named Amelia Lim, former head of brand marketing and communications at Touch 'n Go Wallet, as its first director of brand and new business. Lim (pictured) joins the senior management team and will work alongside Lee Tse Yoon, Joanne Tan, Janice Kiew, Mandy Chan and Shen Loh-Lim. Co-founder and CEO of Ampersand Advisory, Sandeep Joseph, told A+M that her role was created as a strategic move given the way the industry landscape is changing and evolving.
Lim's strengths include developing integrated public relations solutions as well as strategic branding and digital marketing. During her time at Touch 'n Go Wallet, Lim led Kampong Kashless, Malaysia’s first cashless Ramadan Bazaar in Kampong Bahru, and was instrumental in building up the cashless agenda in Penang through 360 media and communications plans to create widespread awareness for conversion. Lim has also worked at several fintech start-ups including GoBear, FatFish Group and ASEAN Fintech Group.
Joseph said the agency wants to understand clients more deeply and to drive transformative change, using its vast array of talented people, tools and data. "Lim is well-placed to lead this process of data-backed, consulting-driven brand building in a fragmented, fast-paced, unpredictable environment. Her track record testifies to her multi-faceted skills and leadership cred. She will help us continue to live up to our tagline of 'Business results now!'," he explained.
According to him, Lim was a respected client and is today a friend, and he is delighted she picked Ampersand Advisory from the various options she had. Ampersand Advisory is currently hiring to further strengthen its consulting and media practices.
"I am looking forward to making waves and driving positive change for brands that are ambitious and want to navigate the confusing and exciting world of tech, media and image creation. The pandemic has created many opportunities and pitfalls, and brands need our help," Lim said.
Ampersand Advisory is celebrating its fifth anniversary this year and has a staff strength of 55, which is expected to grow by 20% this year.
