Accenture has acquired Malaysian data management and analytics firm BIIT Consulting to complement Accenture’s efforts to drive greater AI and data transformation within the Southeast Asian region. The move also aims to further solidify Accenture’s position in the market for providing AI and data-led transformation services.

While Accenture has declined to comment on the monetary value of the acquisition, its spokesperson told A+M that it anticipates this will create more learning and growth opportunities for people across both organisations, helping to address the widening AI talent skills gap the market is experiencing. A team of approximately 55 highly skilled professionals will be joining Accenture Malaysia’s Applied Intelligence team, strengthening its ability to offer value to clients in the areas of data management, analytics, and AI.

BIIT Consulting’s senior leadership team will be part of the team joining Accenture. The data management and analytics firm services clients from various sectors, including the financial services, retail, telecommunications, and manufacturing verticals.

Lee Joon Seong, managing director, Applied Intelligence, Southeast Asia, Accenture said that the addition of BIIT Consulting’s talent would help bolster the company's capabilities as it addresses the growing demand for AI services within the region, and help clients unlock greater value from their data.

BIIT Consulting founders, Veleswaran Nallaiah and Samuel Lee expressed their excitement for coming aboard, saying that they will be providing new growth opportunities for its people and enable expanded capabilities to a larger client base. "We look forward to bringing and implementing AI for the success of the clients both in Malaysia and regionally together with Accenture,” they added.

This latest acquisition comes months after Accenture's marketing-focused arm, Accenture Interactive, acquired Entropia to expand its creative talent pool, creating more learning and growth opportunities for employees across both organisations. While the company declined to comment on the monetary value of the acquisition, this marked its first massive acquisition in Southeast Asia.

Meanwhile, Accenture Interactive also witnessed a key leadership change recently. Creative icon David Droga, founder and chairman of Droga5, was elevated to CEO and creative chairman of Accenture Interactive in August this year. In his role, Droga drives creative excellence, customer experience and business innovation. He replaces Brian Whipple who has been with the company for 10 years.
