Industry leads launch new Gen AI-driven consultancy in Malaysia

Former partner at Ampersand Advisory, Sonny Dey and Chan Leong Teng, CEO of SKRIBBLE Me, have together launched Athenatech.ai, a new consultancy driven by Gen AI.

Athenatech.ai aims to spotlight customer value management (CVM), artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML), ESG, and sustainability.

The consultancy was launched in tandem with the Malaysian government's national digitalisation agenda. The Malaysian government is actively working towards establishing Malaysia as a leading hub for AI infrastructure and technology in the region. This ambitious goal is slated to come to fruition through the Kuala Lumpur 20 (KL20) blueprint, scheduled for introduction in February 2024.

“Customer value management with gen AI will go deeper than the present legacy media mix, attribution and social media platforms and other performance related suites, as it will interpret the data and recommend effective solutions,” said Chang.

"As part of our comprehensive ESG and sustainability portfolio, Athenatech.ai encompasses solutions ranging from product environmental footprint (PEF) to ESG monitoring and reporting for both enterprises and SMEs. Our specific emphasis is on delivering added value to SME sectors to advance ESG and sustainability platforms," he added.

"Athenatech.ai is dedicated to shaping the future of businesses through innovative Gen AI solutions with our strategic partnership with MathCo, solidifying our commitment to providing data-driven intelligence,” said Sonny Dey, co-founder and CEO of Athenatech.ai.

He added that Athenatech.ai is actively in talks with business leaders in Malaysia to propel environmental solutions forward. Additionally, he stated that Athenatech.ai is establishing a Center of Excellence in Malaysia and India, powered by GenAI where cognitive engineers are working toward a prototype rollout scheduled for early 2024.

Dey brings extensive experience to the project having worked at agencies such as Accenture Song, Omnicom Media Group, Dentsu and IPG Mediabrands in his career. Chan on the other hand has been CEO at Skribble for just under four years. Prior to that, he worked at companies such as BLWN and Sime Darby Property.

The launch also marks the partnership between Athenatech.ai and AI and analytics company MathCo as it enters the Southeast-Asian (SEA) market.

"We are excited to introduce our set of offerings that are committed to making enterprises self-sufficient in their AI and analytics endeavors,” said Sayandeb Banerjee, co-founder and CEO of MathCo.

Gen AI has made a significant impact in the industry as we’ve seen in the past year. Many different companies have implemented Gen AI into their offerings to enhance and improve their services.

An example would be the rise of Gen AI-powered assistants for different applications and services. Amazon Web Services recently launched Amazon Q in 2023, a new type of gen AI-powered assistant that is specifically for work and that can be tailored to a customer’s business.

Online travel platform Klook and Google Cloud have also teamed up to further adopt generative AI to amplify the platform's activity content and customer engagement channels last year. The company will initially use Google Cloud’s PaLM 2 to translate activity content across 10 languages.
