Yoodo, a digital telco brand from CelcomDigi, has appointed the Clan as its new lead creative, social, and digital media agency, according to a statement by the agency.

The appointment followed a pitch held in October 2023 and will be for 12 months with an option to renew for another year.

The Clan will be charged with the responsibility of creative ideation, strategy, creative output, social media strategy, and content development for the company with work starting this month.

“We are thrilled to welcome The Clan as our lead creative partner to embark on an exciting journey together in 2024," said Chow Tuck Mun, head of Yoodo. "In our quest for a creative ally, we sought a partner who shares our passion, goes all in with our brand, and thrives on agility and adaptability. With a commitment to creativity within constraints, we believe the Clan is the perfect collaborator to fuel our growth in the next phase of Yoodo's evolution.”

“During the pitch, the client asked, 'Why do you want to work with Yoodo?' As a sort of challenger agency, we saw a lot of similarities between Yoodo and the Clan. It seems our fate is pretty intertwined in this partnership,” added Sandra Heung, general manager at the Clan.

"We weren't just looking for something bold; we were after that perfect Yoodo vibe,” explained Teh Sue May, head of copy for the Clan.

“We knew we had it when we landed on something that resonates with our target audience and encapsulates the essence of the brand. We were thrilled that team Yoodo feels the same way, and we're looking forward to bringing this dynamic shift to life,” she added.

A+M has reached out for more information.

In December 2023, Celcomdigi, Yoodo’s parent company handed its media duties OMD Malaysia for three years following a pitch earlier in August 2023.

With the partnership with OMD, the agency wanted to show how the union signified more possibilities and opportunities that could reimagine a new era for the country.

The team also understood the need to communicate that CelcomDigi’s combined strength will help consumers reimagine their lives and gives them power to do more, it said in a statement.
