After NFTs, Vogue SG unveils virtual lounge for digital wearables

Vogue Singapore launched Club Vogue Singapore in celebration of its second anniversary, alongside the release of a double cover featuring South Korean star CL and K-pop star Jackson Wang, who is the magazine's first male solo cover in Singapore.

Done together with XR content agency Polycount.io, Club Vogue Singapore features a welcoming circular lounge room that takes inspiration from Singapore’s tropical climate. It has a richly textured and layered space populated with tropical vines and monsteras, avatars suspended above a bubbling water feature on levitating marble daises and wraparound sofas with bookshelves to purchase the latest print issues of Vogue Singapore.

Upon entering the space, there are two main Web 3.0 activations - "Forever Fashion-able" NFT collection and digital wearables.

To commemorate the launch of the space and Vogue’s anniversary, the magazine has curated a special NFT collection in collaboration with MAD XR that features one-of-one NFTs from iconic fashion photographers Nick Knight, Chen Man, Liz Collins and Ellen von Unwerth. The NFT collection is now available for purchase via an auction on premium NFT platform, Brytehall.com.

2. Digital wearables

On display in Club Vogue Singapore are five mannequins digitally styled by the Vogue Singapore team using the latest collections from The Fabricant and DressX.

Debuting their first digital accessories collection exclusively in Club Vogue Singapore, The Fabricant’s collection titled "XXories" features 13 AR accessories, of which 10 are showcased on the mannequins in the lounge. Inspired by a traditional dress from the Zeeland province in the Netherlands and the Dutch techno Gabber culture from the ‘90s, the pieces will be offered as both an AR filter try-on and as digital wearables on Spatial.io.

“The accessories are intentionally provocative and suggest the idea of wearing your pain, presenting a fresh perspective on beauty that mixes IRL models wearing pieces that only exist digitally”, says Amber Slooten, creative director and co-founder of The Fabricant. The collection will be available to purchase in February 2023, with an early sign-up list in November.

Meanwhile, inspired by snakes’ ability to outgrow and shed their skins, the Snake Collection by DRESSX features both male and female looks. Founder Natalia Modenova said it has created three metalooks available for purchase and optimised to be worn on avatars through Ready Player Me and featured in Vogue Singapore's Spatial metaverse.

Vogue Singapore is not new to the Web3.0 scene, having launched digital cover NFTs and NFT mystery boxes in the past. It also launched the Vogue Singapore x Vogue Ukraine NFT project to help raise funds for Save The Children in Ukraine.

Separately, to mark the milestone of Vogue Singapore’s anniversary, the publication will also be unveiling an exclusive collection of merchandise by two Singaporean brands - an embroidered twill cap made of recyclable materials by The Paper Bunny with the embroidered slogan "That’s Vogue"; and a retro-inspired hoodie made of 100% certified recycled materials by Dirty Manners featuring the ‘VOGUE’ logo on the chest. The collection will be launched on 12 October 2022, and will be available for purchase on Shopify.
