UOB has issued a new scam alert to warn its consumers against a fake invitation to a meet-and-greet session with global pop star Taylor Swift.
The alert was published on the bank’s website and UOB clarified that it is an untrue invitation and was not issued by the bank. The public is also warned to not click on suspicious links provided in unsolicited SMSes and emails and to verify the authenticity of the information with official websites or sources.

It also encouraged its consumers to call its dedicated fraud hotline and to check UOB’s page for a step-by-step guide to follow if they suspect they are being scammed.
Other than the Taylor Swift meet-and-greet session scam, UOB also regularly posts examples of phishing emails and scams to educate its consumers on online safety.
MARKETING-INTERACTIVE has reached out for more information.
Swift will be in Singapore for The Eras Tour from 2 to 9 March 2024, which also saw UOB debit and credit cardholders get access to a special pre-sale window and general on-sale reserved ticket allotment.
When MARKETING-INTERACTIVE reached out, Jacquelyn Tan, the head, group personal financial services at UOB noted that its preliminary data has shown that card application volumes have surged "very significantly" since last Wednesday as compared to the daily average so far.
"Prior to the announcement, we had anticipated a surge in card applications, and had taken proactive steps to handle the uptick in volume such as increasing the capacity of the relevant business units handling these applications," she added before noting that UOB's staff were working "as fast as they can" to process the applications.
