YouGov has also revealed the top 10 destinations among Indonesians. Bali Island tops the list with an impression score of 63.8, a 5.2-point increase from last year. It is also the only destination in the list that has increased in points from the previous year. Coming in second place once again is Japan (34.1), followed by Singapore (26.7) in third place.

While South Korea ranked fourth in the list (22.2), it is also the destination with the largest dip in score compared to the year before (-9.8). Additionally, Switzerland (16.1) and the Netherlands (11.3) are also the only two European destinations to make the top 10 list. Joining them in the top 10 are Dubai (United Arab Emirates) (18.5), Saudi Arabia (15.9), New Zealand (13.5) and Australia (12.0).

According to the report, YouGov's travel and tourism ranking draws data from YouGov BrandIndex. YouGov BrandIndex measures the public’s perception of brands on a daily basis across a range of measures, and were compiled using impression scores across all 52 weeks of last year. Impression scores measure whether a consumer has a positive or negative impression of a brand during the previous two weeks. The markets included in this report are Australia, China, France, Germany, Indonesia, Japan, UAE, UK and US.

As for the brand ranking, brands were ranked based on their impression score, which is a measure of whether a consumer has a positive or negative impression of a brand calculated by taking the average net score for the whole of 2021. The brand rankings charts show those brands which received the highest average score.
