Japanese indoor amusement park chain TOKYO JOYPOLIS (東京歡樂城) will expand into the Hong Kong market with the launch of its first flagship at the upcoming Kai Tak Mall, the retail area of the Kai Tak Sports Park.

Established in 1994, JOYPOLIS is operated by the CA SEGA JOYPOLIS. JOYPOLIS offers a diverse range of "sportainment" attractions and experiences by blending technology with innovative entertainment.

Specially designed for Kai Tai Sports Park, the indoor sports-themed park will span five storeys and cover nearly 30,000 square feet. It will feature over 20 attractions, catering to health and fitness enthusiasts and aiming to become a premier destination for active leisure and entertainment, according to the release.

“Opening the first authorised JOYPOLIS SPORTS flagship outside Japan in Hong Kong is a significant step in our global expansion. We selected Kai Tak Sports Park and its Kai Tak Mall for its excellent location and first-class facilities, which are sure to attract many local and international visitors," said Takeshi Yoshimoto, CEO of CA SEGA JOYPOLIS.

“We believe this new indoor amusement park, which combines cutting-edge technology and innovative entertainment elements, will bring unprecedented entertainment experiences and surprises to all visitors,” Yoshimoto added.

The Hong Kong flagship will feature three key themed zones with each zone showcasing a unique theme that combines play and sports, aiming to give locals and tourists a new experience of interactive sports.

The “NINJA DOJO” zone will blend traditional Japanese ninja elements with the Ninja Warrior sports concept, immersing participants in a dojo for experiential learning. Participants will enhance their explosiveness and reflexes through traditional ninja training, martial arts, and weapon throwing. They will face fitness and intelligence challenges and go through different checkpoints, followed by a personal assessment that determines their modern ninja skills.

Furthermore, the "SONIC STADIUM" will introduce an interactive playground themed around the video game IP "Sonic the Hedgehog". The area will infuse popular elements into sporting activities, allowing players of all ages to immerse themselves in the world of Sonic the Hedgehog and the excitement of sports.

Designed for children aged zero to six years old, the playground zone will offer various kid-friendly games, such as the bouncy “air dome”, where children can completely let loose and run wild. Meanwhile, adults and teenagers can partake in the races and matches at SONIC ATHLETICS.

In addition, the “FUTURE ARENA” zone will integrate sports games with mixed reality (MR) technology. This will include the “VALO ARENA”, which utilises MR and advanced motion tracking, enabling players to participate in thrilling games alongside friends and family without the need for additional equipment.

In keeping with the TOKYO JOYPOLIS culture, JOYPOLIS SPORTS will regularly collaborate with popular Japanese brands and IPs to launch exclusive events, featuring limited merchandise and souvenirs.

Apart from gaming zones, JOYPOLIS will feature a restaurant called "Hungry Tiger Hidden Dragon" on the top floor. Designed by Keo W., the restaurant and bar will blend sports elements with popular IPs. It will offer a semi-alfresco dining area overlooking the main stadium, with interiors embracing a trendy modernist style. The menu will also introduce a new Western-Japanese fusion cuisine to cater to diverse customer needs.

Additionally, the restaurant aligns with the Kai Tak Sports Park theme, offering healthy options and limited-themed meals such as muscle-building dishes, vegetarian meals, and energy shakes. In the evening, it will transform into a stylish bar, providing an interactive space for spectators and event participants.

Andrew Tsui, general manager of JOYPOLIS SPORTS HONG KONG, said: “We are thrilled to bring JOYPOLIS SPORTS to Hong Kong. With its mission "Sports for all generations," combined with the ‘sportainment’ concept, unites the world's top technology sports games to create a unique interactive experience for everyone. JOYPOLIS SPORTS is dedicated to offering exciting and fun entertainment for both locals and visitors. Whether you're a fitness enthusiast, new to sports, or just looking to relax with friends, JOYPOLIS SPORTS has you covered.

"Our themed restaurant blends a healthy lifestyle with delicious food, providing a perfect spot to enjoy time with family and friends. Our goal is to become the leading sports social platform, and we believe the JOYPOLIS SPORTS Hong Kong flagship will set off a new wave of sportainment excitement across the city," Tsui added.
