These are the best times to post on some of the biggest social media platforms in 2023

With social media being such a vital channel for campaigns and brand content, it can seem like one has to be always on in order to gain eyeballs on campaigns and key messaging.
However, that may not entirely be the case. Rather, with a targeted and data-driven strategy, social media teams and influencers can plot out the best time to post such that they get the most vies and engagements.
To do this, software company Sprout Social, analysed near nearly two billion engagements across 400,000 social profiles across Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Pinterest and TikTok to find out which timeslot yielded the most engagement.
This is what it found out:

The first thing to establish is what the best times are to post on social media in general. In addition to these timeslots, Sprout Social found that the best days to post of social media were Tuesdays and Wednesdays while the worst day was Sunday.
Best times to post on social media:
- Mondays from 10 a.m. to noon
- Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Thursdays 9 a.m. to noon
- Fridays from 9 to 11 a.m.

Worst days to post on social media: Sundays
On Facebook, Sprout Social found that the platform was the most used by marketers worldwide at 90%. However, engagement continued to remain low.
Best times to post on Facebook:
- Mondays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Tuesdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Thursdays from 8 a.m. to noon
Best days to post on Facebook: Mondays through Thursdays
Worst days to post on Facebook: Sundays
Instagram is the second most used platform used by marketers worldwide at 79% and is also the second most preferred platform for customer service after Facebook, for marketers and consumers.
The best days to post on Instagram are Tuesdays and Wednesdays while the worst day remains on Sunday.
Best times to post on Instagram:
- Mondays from 10 a.m. to noon
- Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Fridays from 9 to 11 a.m.

Worst days to post on Instagram: Sundays
With its business focus, LinkedIn engagement is typically consistent with general business hours and does not extend beyond that. The best days to post on LinkedIn company pages is Tuesdays through Thursdays while the worst days to post are weekends.

- Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to noon

Worst days to post on LinkedIn Company Pages: Weekends
While not all brands utalise Pinterest, the platform still does have its benefits. The best days to post on the platform are Wednesdays through Fridays while the worst days to post are on Sundays and Mondays.

- Tuesdays at 1 p.m.
- Wednesdays from 1 to 3 p.m
- Thursdays from noon to 2 p.m.

TikTok
TikTok is the latest player in the social media game and has over a billion active global users who spend nearly 20 hours on the app monthly.
Best times to post on TikTok:
- Tuesdays from 2 to 6 p.m.
- Wednesdays from 2 to 5 p.m.
- Thursdays from 3 to 5 p.m.
Best days to post on TikTok: Tuesdays and Wednesdays
Worst days to post on TikTok: Sundays
Despite its instability, Twitter continues to be a vital part of brand strategies.
Best times to post on Twitter:
- Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Fridays 9 a.m. to noon
