The Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) has appointed J Walter Thompson (JWT) Singapore to drive recruitment, and to lead integrated marketing, communications and events to mark the Navy’s 50th anniversary in 2017.JWT will partner with AsiaPRwerkz and Mindshare on a jubilee campaign to celebrate “RSN50”, which includes a series of events, activations, and advertising executions to celebrate the Navy’s achievements and pay tribute to the pioneers who have contributed to safeguarding Singapore’s maritime interests over the last 50 years.JWT’s contract with the RSN will run for three years. This appointment follows a close door pitch which was held last year. The incumbent on this account was Dentsu Singapore. The company in partnership with Isobar Singapore was appointed for a period of two years with the option to extend for another two.“Singapore Navy is one of the most prestigious and respected brands in Singapore,” said Peter Womersley, CEO of JWT Singapore in an exclusive statement to Marketing. “The commemoration of their 50th anniversary is a tremendous opportunity and we are very pleased and honored to be selected as their agency. We are committed to developing some great work on this iconic brand.”Marketing understands that the account was pitched to RSN with the help of Chris Chiu, chief creative, who has since left the agency to work with DDB Singapore. Recently, JWT was also named agency of record for Lux’s global digital strategy and content business, after a multi-agency digital pitch. This is in addition to its existing responsibilities for all of Lux’s global advertising development.
