Bryan Loo, CEO of Loob holdings told A+M that Tealive adopts equal opportunity policy for all talent recruitment, retention and career advancement. “All Malaysians are welcome to apply irrespective of race, religion or gender. Tealive customers come from all sections of society and we acknowledge & appreciate every one of them, irrespective of race, religion or gender. We look forward to the continuous support of all Malaysians,” he added.
“It took me a few good seconds to process what I’d just heard and I replied saying, ‘Excuse me sorry, I thought I heard wrong’, and she repeated saying ‘orang Melayu sahaja’ (Malays only),” Kaur said.
She went on to add that she was stunned by what she was told and needed to take action. She got in touch with Tealive’s customer service to inform them of what had happened. In response they told her that Tealive had no such policy.
Kaur returned to Tealive to confront the staff member on her prejudice, to which the staff member said “never mind, you just fill this up”, and passed her a job application. Kaur denied the application, as she had already been denied once.
She told the staff member to hand in the job application form to the next person who walks in instead of pinpointing their race, especially when it was not the company's policy.
Kaur’s video garnered positive response from netizens.
