TD Ameritrade will be launching a WeChat mini-game for the 2019 Dragon Boat Festival taking place from 5 to 9 June. It’s a bid by TD Ameritrade to drive awareness and consideration of its offering in Hong Kong and to drive up the followership of its WeChat account. As TD Ameritrade provides financial market updates, investor education, and research to retail investors in Hong Kong through its chatbot of WeChat, delivering this campaign on WeChat seemed like a natural fit. The company rides on the extensive user base of WeChat to engage Hong Kong investors, aiming to make the U.S. equity markets more accessible.“Every investor has a starting point and a goal (or goals) that they hope to achieve and TD Ameritrade is here to help investors pursue their financial goals,” said Gary Leung, CEO at TD Ameritrade. “It takes practice and experience to reach the finish line and TD Ameritrade offers a wealth of educational resources so that investors can grow their knowledge and make more informed investment decisions.” Leung added that the company offers trading platforms and tools, as well as a local multilingual service team to investors in Hong Kong to pursue their financial goals.“While other Chinese festivals will certainly be a consideration in the future, the Dragon Boat Festival is an important cultural moment, and we wanted to harness the excitement and social conversations surrounding the event. Like the event itself, our ad is focused on an engaging, colourful and game-like user experience,” said Leung.TD Ameritrade is a U.S.-based company providing a trading platform for the trade of financial assets for individual investors. In January 2018 the firm’s launch of a new Hong Kong-based broker-dealer – TD Ameritrade Hong Kong- enabled local retail investors to trade in U.S. markets.
