TamJai International has partnered with St. James' Settlement to donate nearly 60,000 bowls of rice noodles to over 17,000 individuals in need through its charity event named “Mixian For The Good” over the past few years.

Since its launch in 2021, this initiative aims to offer free meals to the underprivileged individuals whose daily lives were impacted by the COVID-pandemic, bringing positive energy to Hong Kong by that time.

Although the pandemic has ended, to extend TJI’s care and support to the community, the campaign has become a monthly event held across various districts in Hong Kong to reach a broader group of beneficiaries.

Coinciding with the World Food Day, the charity event held on 16 October saw the participation of over 400 community members. The event underscores the group’s ongoing dedication to “Nourishing Communities”, providing nutritious food while spreading love and support within the communities it serves.

Organised by TamJai SamGor, one of the sub brands under the group, the initiative was done in partnership with FOOD-CO of St. James’ Settlement, an IT platform for food support service.

Apart from a fulfilling meal comprising a bowl of hot mixian, a snack, and a drink, the event creates a socialising opportunity by providing a comfortable space for the beneficiaries to enjoy their meals with neighbours and friends, fostering closer community bonds. This initiative also serves as a platform for the group’s staff members to contribute to society, with over 800 staff volunteers participating the charity event, spanning all levels of the company.

As part of the campaign, a video was uploaded onto TamJai's social media platforms such as YouTube and LinkedIn, featuring heartfelt moments between TamJai employees and the participants as they enjoy a hot bowl of mixian, snacks, and beverages, while chatting with friends and neighbours.

Daren Lau, chairman, executive director and chief executive officer of Tam Jai International, said, “At the heart of our business lies the principle of ‘taken from the community, giving back to the community’. We are pleased to partner with FOOD-CO of St. James’ Settlement in organising this ongoing charity initiative, spreading love and care through our nutritious and delicious food."

"Embracing our ESG core pillar of ‘nourishing communities’, we look forward to continuing our efforts to promote the wellbeing of our community members and provide support to those in need, thereby strengthening our bond with the local community," he added.

Roz Ma, senior service manager (charity services) of St. James’ Settlement said, “We are grateful for our long-standing partnership with TamJai SamGor for the ‘Mixian For The Good’ initiative. With our concerted efforts, this initiative not only provides people in need with nourishing food, but also brings together community members to share memorable dining experiences, fostering a sense of togetherness and solidarity. We believe the heartfelt joy and warmth that we bring to the underprivileged community through this charity event will create a positive impact that extends far beyond the dining tables.”
