Life insurance and family Takaful provider Sun Life Malaysia has appointed Noor Azam bin Mohd Yusof (pictured) as its chief executive officer of Sun Life Malaysia Takaful Berhad (SLMT). He succeeds Jeffry Azmi, who has retired.
In his new role, Azam will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the business, including Syariah compliance and governance. He will champion the implementation of SLMT's business strategy, designed to achieve continued growth and elevate its position as a leading bancatakaful player in the Malaysian market.
With more than 25 years of industry experience in both conventional and Takaful sectors, Azam brings a wealth of knowledge to the company, according to Sun Life. His expertise includes sales and marketing, bancassurance and bancatakaful, agency channel management, business development, and strategic business transformation. Azam joins Sun Life from AmMetlife Takaful where he served as CEO since 2017.
According to his LinkedIn, Azam was the head of sales and distribution division at HSBC Amanah Takaful (M) Berhad, where he held the role for nearly seven years. Prior to that, he worked at CIMB Aviva Assurance.

Earlier this month, Sun Life Malaysia appointed local personality Alif Satar as its 2025 brand ambassador. As an entertainment industry veteran with over 15 years of experience, Satar has garnered a large fanbase with over four million followers across his social media platform.
According to his LinkedIn, Satar is the chief executive officer (CEO) of ASET Records, a company that aims to build and push for positive influence in the entertainment industry.
The partnership aimed to amplify Sun Life's mission to empower Malaysians with essential financial and Takaful knowledge, with a focus on legacy planning and family financial stability. Takaful is a form of insurance system designed to comply with a set of Islamic religious laws.
Beyond being the face of the brand, Alif will actively participate in initiatives to increase Takaful literacy among Malaysians, such as the "Takaful 101" video series, a digital content series that equips Malaysians with the knowledge needed to build and protect their financial legacies through Takaful.
