Stream Empire Holdings is no stranger to the sports lifestyle industry. With more than 35 years of experience, and with many big brands under its wing, this company has come a long way from its early beginnings.

Robert Lim, founder of Stream Empire, first started the business by supplying materials to local footwear manufacturers in 1983. It gained traction, and in a short time span, became a contract manufacturer for various international brands.

This opened the gateway for the company to partner with many other international brands such as New Balance, whom it has partnered with for the past 22 years as its sole distributor in Malaysia.

Today, Lim’s children have stepped in and are steadily expanding the company’s retail portfolio. CEO Justin Lim (above), who is also the mastermind behind the joint venture with JD Sports in the region, is excited about the company’s plans to further grow its reach locally and in the Southeast Asian region.

With outstanding brands such as New Balance, Dr. Martens, Onitsuka Tiger, New Era, Havaianas, Crep Protect, Tower Box, Lyle & Scott, Ronhill, Hilly, 2XU, and many more to its name, one can only imagine what’s next for Stream Empire in the years to come.

For now though, we can definitely say the company is off to a great start in 2020.

Not only has Stream Empire partnered with Boardriders to acquire the rights to be the sole distributor of its brands (Quiksilver, Billabong, Roxy, DC Shoes, RVCA) in the local market, but it has also welcomed Murali Dharan (Moots; pictured above) onboard as the newly appointed chief marketing officer and promoted Jo Ten (pictured below) to chief operating officer from her previous role as general manager.

Moots has had an extensive career background. A Bank Negara scholar, he first started his career with the Central Bank before making a move into the media industry to work with Astro Malaysia Holdings where he started as a radio announcer before moving up the ranks.

His most recent stint as vice-president of Rocketfuel Entertainment saw him take the business from its inception to now being one of the largest independent music labels and talent management agencies in the country. Not only that, his role as frontman of Southeast Asian band Pop Shuvit has also added to his credibility within the industry.

“I am confident that Stream Empire will continue to expand and break new ground in the retail experience, especially with Moots’ previous expertise in the creative space. He fits well with our brand offerings and has extensive knowledge of all things digital,” Justin said.

“Jo, on the other hand, has been a thoroughbred in the company. She has moved up the management ranks and proven that she is highly skilled and capable of being in this role to lead the company in our Southeast Asian expansion.”

Moots’ addition to the team, together with Ten’s promotion, has placed us in an advantageous position. Stream Empire is poised to provide all our customers with only the best in brand and retail experience
