Standard Chartered names MD for digital channels and data analytics

Standard Chartered has appointed Kerry Wong as managing director, co-head of Asia, digital channels and data analytics, according to her LinkedIn.

She took up the new position in November 2021. Before this position, she was managing director, payment strategy lead, wealth and personal banking at HSBC from June 2021 to October 2021. Wong joined the bank in October 2019 as CEO of PayME, serving the eWallet operator until June 2021.

Wong also boasts experience in REA Group that operates three Australian property websites, where she was CEO for the Greater China Region. Wong served PayPal for nine years too, as she was senior director of global operations, operational excellence team for the Asia Pacific region. In the position, she was responsible for leading a regional operational excellence team across geo-expansion, strategic partnerships, business development initiatives, product and marketing integrations, end-to-end customer experience, risk management and revenue enablement.

From 2008 to 2013, she was managing director for Hong Kong, South Korea and Taiwan and responsible for establishing and leading the PayPal business in Hong Kong, Taiwan and South Korea. She was tasked with accelerating revenue growth, customer acquisition and engagement, product relevancy, brand value proposition and marketing, and the enhancement of business process efficiencies.

She was also regional managing director, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau at eBay. In this position, she established and led the eBay business in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau. In addition, she was responsible for accelerating revenue growth, customer acquisition and engagement, product relevancy, brand value proposition and marketing, and the enhancement of business process efficiencies.

Other companies she worked for include Zuji and American Express.

Wong positions herself as a digital, eCommerce, fintech, proptech and travel executive successful at starting up and building corporate values and leading highly diverse organisations. She is also capable of establishing operational excellence within culturally diverse environments, translating conceptual models into specific growth strategies, and planning and executing multi-faceted business initiatives to drive geo-expansion, market share and revenue.
