Fan token creator Socios.com scores Lionel Messi as first-ever global ambassador

Fan token creators Socios.com has brought on board football player Lionel Messi as its first ever global brand ambassador, which includes a multi-year agreement that will last for an initial period of three years.

As global brand ambassador, Messi (pictured) will promote Socios.com to his 400 million followers as part of a wider campaign to inspire sports aficionados to share their passion for their favourite teams in an empowered and engaged community. Starting with a debut brand campaign, Messi is slated to appear in multiple educational and promotional campaigns as well.

Socios.com’s global community consists of almost one and a half million sports fans across 167 countries. The brand’s mission to transform fan engagement in sport by transitioning fans from passive spectators into active participants is part of a wider effort to make sport a more memorable experience.

Messi credits his fans as a driving force that has inspired him throughout his career. “Socios.com exists to enhance the fan experience, to enable fans to ‘be more'. I’m proud to join Socios.com’s mission to create a more connected and rewarding future for fans around the world,” said Messi.

Socios.com CEO Alexandre Dreyfus cited Messi as a once in a generation talent “who make the beautiful game extra special for fans". The company looks forward to building a more inclusive, exciting and rewarding future for fans across the world with Messi as its champion.

At the same time, Socios.com plans to run at least 500 polls this year for its growing community of fan token holders. According to the company’s website, fan tokens are a finite digital asset minted in limited numbers with ownership logged in a secure ledger on the Ethereum blockchain. Fan tokens give a lifetime of access to exclusive fan clubs with VIP rewards, promotions, games and access to a wider inner circle of superfans. Socios.com has already partnered with major football teams such as Arsenal FC, Paris Saint Germain and Chelsea.

The polls will enable Token holders to influence key fan-centric decisions on matters ranging from kit designs to squad numbers and celebration songs. Fan token holders will also receive unique digital rewards, which include NFTs, merchandise and match-worn jerseys, while being eligible to access exclusive discounted linked to favoured club sponsors and other special offers incentivised by major brands. The company also looks to increase gamification on its app, launching a wide range of sports themed mobile games and will be exclusive to Fan Token holders.
