This Mother’s Day, Singtel released a short film titled "Hello Mom’s Day" which celebrates close familial ties and taps on Singaporeans’ love of travelling.
The film begins with a puzzled mother, Mei Lian, on the phone with her daughter Kristen to confirm that she ordered a suitcase to their doorstep. Kristen also came home with shopping bags of travel essentials.

In the next scene when her mother goes to her room to place a parcel for her winter wear on her bed, she stumbles upon a packed suitcase and other clothing items neatly laid on the bed with a travel brochure for Harbin.
Despite not telling her mother about the trip, a bag full of travel medication was packed and left on the dining table with a handwritten note that said “remember bring these for your trip!” as her mother fell asleep on the sofa while watching a video about Harbin.
The next day while Mie Lian is bottling some homemade sambal, Kristen surprises her mother to reveal that the winter holiday to Harbin is not just for Kristen but for both of them.
“For all the moments Mom’s there for you, here’s one for her. Happy Mother’s Day,” said overlayed text in the short film.
"Hello Mom’s Day" then hilariously ends with Mei Lian asking if Kristen has packed her sweater, showcasing that even on holiday, our mothers never cease to care for us.
Mei Lian also reprises her role from Singtel’s Hari Raya short film. The concept for the film was based on the idea of the kampong spirit and Singaporeans’ love of food.
Named “Hello Raya”, the short film features an elderly Malay woman, Noraini, whipping up a storm in her kitchen for Hari Raya. She prepares a variety of mouthwatering traditional Malay dishes, including sayur lodeh, rendang, mee goreng, ketupat and kuih for the special day.
In the midst of her preparations, she hears thumping sounds coming from the home of her Chinese neighbour, Mei Lian. She decides to investigate, and Mei Lian shares that she’s been preparing sambal in a stone mortar and pestle, which caused the sounds, and that she planned to bring it to Noraini’s house party.
