Singpass drops catchy rap video

Government Technology Agency (GovTech) has partnered global content company distillery to educate the public on how they can keep their Singpass accounts safe through a rap song. The song "Be Sure. Be Secure" features a rap and a K-pop inspired chorus to arm Singpass users with the knowledge they need to protect themselves from scams, according to a statement by the company.
The campaign aims to reach a broad audience across different demographics through the multi-genre track and features safety tips conveyed through dancing seniors and even a singing fish. Tips in the song include checking if one’s text messages sent by Singpass are legitimate and calling a 24-hour scam reporting hotline if they suspect that their Singpass has been compromised, to name a few.
When asked why K-pop was an inspiration for the campaign, a spokesperson from distillery said that since the K-pop genre combines musical styles from R&B, rap, rock and dance, it will appeal to different demographics and target audiences. K-pop also captures positive energy in its catchy choruses which the company hopes will empower Singaporeans to protect themselves against cyber scams.
The music video for the song was also done in partnership with production company Little Red Ants and will run across various digital channels from late August 2023. To further amplify its reach, the campaign will span social and digital media channels, print media and OOH touchpoints across Singapore.

“For the 'Be Sure. Be Secure' campaign, we knew we needed to find a balance between communicating a serious message and producing a standout creative that would entertain and resonate with viewers,” said Simon Hearn, managing director of distillery Singapore.
“It’s both an individual and collective responsibility to protect our personal data and digital identities, so we really hope this campaign will raise awareness for people to be vigilant when performing digital transactions,” he said.
Singpass has also bolstered its reach to Malaysia earlier this year. This comes as Malaysian service-based digital signing solution, SigningCloud, a subsidiary of SecureMetric, joined hands with Singpass to boost the security landscape and provide a more advanced solution for secure and efficient transactions.
Through this collaboration, SigningCloud aims to allow Singpass users to sign documents digitally, eliminating the vulnerability of traditional paper-based signatures.
