A police report has been filed against the finance director of the Singapore Silat Federation (SSF) after it was discovered that there were inconsistencies related to the salary payments of some coaches. In a statement to MARKETING-INTERACTIVE by SSF and Sport Singapore (SportSG), confirmed that the finance director has since been suspended from his duties.
"Sport Singapore (SportSG) recently received feedback alleging that there were irregularities in Singapore Silat Federation’s (SSF) finance practices. Upon our checks, we uncovered information that was cause for serious concern. SportSG met up with the SSF Management Committee to inform them of our findings, and we understand that SSF subsequently filed a police report. SportSG will work with the SSF to ensure that the training and competitions of Silat athletes are not impacted by the incident. As the case is under investigation, we are unable to share further details," said the statement.
SportSG then met up with the SSF Management Committee to inform them of its findings and a police report was then lodged against the finance director of SSF on 23 February.
"SSF will fully cooperate with the authorities in their investigations. We will also work closely with SportSG to minimise the impact of this incident on the coaches and athletes in the Silat fraternity," noted SFF. It added that during this period, it will continue to support its athletes in their training and competitions.
Additionally, as the case is still under investigation, SportsSG and SSF both shared that they were unable to share further details. However, SSF noted that they will take this opportunity to review its internal processes and to strengthen its systems.
