Local talent for specialised eCommerce, digital marketing and marketing is still in demand as there is still a shortage in talent with these skillsets. According to a study by recruitment agency Michael Page, companies are seeking leaders who can drive digital strategy while also anticipating technology disruptors.Some of the skills under most demanded, include:IT security leadData scientistDigital transformation-led software developer and lead automation expertDigital marketing managerPerformance marketing managerDigital content managerDigital analytics manager as well as CRM managerThese individuals are also expected to acquire skills ranging from cloud specialist and developers, eCommerce, digital transformation / innovation among others. While digital transformation is an ongoing focus, cybersecurity prefaces many organisations’ ability to improve operational technology. As such, a huge demand for IT security roles and digital transformation-led technical roles open up in the market.In line with the need for niche skills and evolving technology landscape,The expectations of salary increase when switching jobs are at 12-20% for tech talent and 10-15% for digital talent.According to Shinjika Shukla, associate director technology practice at Michael Page Singapore, candidates seek evidence that a company is committed to its development, and will value its projects. Technology can be “boom-bust”, so job-seekers place a premium on the stability and long-term viability of the firm, she said.Shukla was also of the view that candidates look for clear details on the exposure to new technologies, while some will be open to a pay cut for exposure that boosts their market value.“Brands don’t expect that new hires will have all the right skillsets on day one – but they look for those willing and able to adapt and learn. This means a learning-based mindset, and overarching logic-based and problem-solving skills.
