SIM opens first Jakarta office, appoints digital agency

Private education institution Singapore Institute of Management (SIM) has opened a representative office in Jakarta. This is the first overseas representative office set up by SIM in a bid to bolster awareness of its offered programmes under the SIM Global Education (SIM GE) brand in Indonesia.In a statement to Marketing Interactive, Gerald Lum, director, regional marketing and recruitment, SIM Global Education said that the SIM Indonesia Representative Office has appointed Leverate, a digital media agency, in Jakarta to help with SIM’s digital outreach initiatives. Outreach initiatives cover the main cities of Jakarta, Surabaya, Medan, Batam, Bandung and Bali.Meanwhile, the SIM representative office aims to provide prospective students and their parents with valuable information, advice and personal consultation that will help them make informed decisions. According to the release, out of the 19,000 students currently enrolled, 20% are international students. In addition, RO aims to enhance and establish employment opportunities for SIM GE students and graduates from Indonesia. This will be done through partnering local and multinational companies in Indonesia to offer internships and management trainee programmes.These companies include GO-JEK, GlaxoSmithKline, British American Tobacco, ASEAN Foundation and CPA Australia.The release added that SIM GE has been a popular choice for Indonesian students looking at acquiring a globally recognised education in Singapore. The release also stated that as at end of 2017, 23% of its international students were from Indonesia. The RO will oversee the task in providing value to the growing Indonesian alumni by helping them to upgrade their knowledge and skills through continual education and training, staying relevant and competitive.
