Shopee ventures into property partnership with Gamuda Land

Malaysian property developer Gamuda Land has partnered Shopee to allow users to browse and purchase selected Gamuda Land properties through the app. Through this partnership, users can speak to Gamuda Land’s representatives though a live chat function for property information and terms and conditions of the promotion before making the decision to purchase. Users can also check out property on Gamuda Land’s latest campaign Online Property Deals through its website and redeem Shopee deals there. From Gamuda's website, they will also be able to consult relationship associates for advice on packages offered, financial health checks, as well as to obtain further information regarding the properties offered.

Aw Sei Cheh, chief operating officer of Gamuda Land, said the partnership will allow Gamuda Land to feature its properties to a wider group of audience. Aw added that the property developer is also exploring opportunities to promote its other business portfolios such as its leisure and entertainment hub, Discovery Park in Gamuda Cove as well as Big Bucket Splash, a children’s waterplay in Gamuda Gardens.

All of Gamuda Land’s on-going developments are eligible in this partnership. A quick check by A+M found that, at the time of writing, there were no listed properties from Gamuda Land on Shopee's official website, but there are listings for discounted vouchers for various properties. In a statement to A+M, Aw said that the partnership is an opportunity to brand Gamuda Land amongst Shopee's customers. Aw added that the two companies will be exploring other collaboration opportunities in this partnership which will be announced at a later date.

Ian Ho, regional managing director of Shopee, told A+M that it chose to work with Gamuda Land because it is a renown property developer in the country. "This partnership is yet another milestone for us as we continue to expand our ocean of offerings to Malaysians," he said. Ho added that Shopee has worked with several other property developers in the past, but those partnerships were largely to promote the property developers' campaign at that given time.

Two months ago, Shopee Malaysia expanded its presence in East Malaysia with the launch of its Sabah-dedicated online store called S-Mart Sabah. The move aimed to serve the local market with greater convenience and help reduce cost of living on daily essentials for Sabahans. At the same time, Shopee also tied up with Pos Laju as its third-party logistics partner for S-Mart Sabah. S-Mart Sabah, which can be found on Shopee by searching for “s-mart sabah”, offers one-stop access to a range of groceries and household necessities from leading brands including MILO, Maggi, Nescafe, Oral-B, Harpic, and Downy, with more coming on board such as PetPet and Genki.
