The Shangri-La Group has globally extended tier statuses for members of its Golden Circle loyalty programme and eased restrictions on cancellations in response to the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak.
With this extension, all Diamond and Jade members will maintain their current tier statuses and benefits until the end of next year, with the updated status validity being reflected in member profiles with immediate effect.
“The health and well-being of our guests and members are of utmost priority to us. We understand that because of the COVID-19 situation, our members' travel plans may have been impacted and their hotel stays affected,” said Ng Wee-kee, vice president of marketing (loyalty) at Shangri-La Group.
“To alleviate our Diamond and Jade members’ concerns on the validity of their membership status and as an expression of our gratitude for their continued support, we have opted to extend their membership status and benefits globally," he added.
Given the latest outbreak situation, the Shangri-La Group will also extend its cancellation waiver policy for all guests travelling to any of the group's hotels in Greater China, and for guests planning to travel from Greater China and South Korea to any of its hotels globally on or before 31 March 2020. The Group will waive the cancellation charges regardless of booking channel for bookings made prior to 1 March 2020.
