In a fusion of fashion and contemporary art, Sejauh Mata Memandang and acclaimed Indonesian artist Eko Nugroho (pictured, left) have unveiled an immersive fashion exhibition at The Space, Plaza Indonesia. Running from 20 February to 30 April, this showcase extends their collaboration first introduced at Dewi Fashion Knights 2024 during Jakarta Fashion Week (JFW) 2025.

At the heart of this exhibition is a blend of storytelling, sustainability, and artistic expression. The exhibition features 25 meticulously crafted fashion pieces from the JFW 2025 runway, allowing visitors to engage with the creative process beyond fleeting runway moments. Creative director and co-designer Felix Tjahyadi (pictured, right) lends his expertise to bring this vision to life.

"After our show at DFK 2024, we wanted to create a space where people could not only see the designs but truly experience their meaning - understanding the craftsmanship and the artisans who brought them to life," said Chitra Subyakto (pictured, centre), founder and creative director of Sejauh Mata Memandang, in a release.

This vision aligns with Nugroho's philosophy of making art an everyday experience. "Fashion is a medium close to our daily lives, and I want to show that art can live on our bodies," he explained.

Upon entering the exhibition, visitors are greeted by an exclusive carpet installation by Fio Carpet, crafted with eco-conscious materials, replacing fossil fuels with renewable energy sources. This entrance sets the tone for an exhibition that bridges sustainability with avant-garde design.

The journey continues into a pop-up retail space where attendees can purchase limited-edition batik textiles and scarves from the collection. Meanwhile, the exhibition's centrepiece features mannequins adorned in the collaboration's signature designs, set against curated paintings by Nugroho in partnership with ROH Gallery. This multi-sensory experience is further amplified through audiovisual storytelling, supported by Samsung.

The exhibition also features "Ruang Malam" (The Night Room), a dark, introspective installation showcasing three all-black ensembles symbolising resistance, sorrow, and social injustice. This creative response invites reflection on deeper societal issues, reinforcing fashion as a medium for discourse.

Plaza Indonesia, as the host, underscores its commitment to fostering impactful local brands. "Plaza Indonesia is not just about luxury; it is also home to high-quality and impactful local brands such as Sejauh Mata Memandang," stated Zamri Mamat, deputy chief marketing officer of Plaza Indonesia.

With a mix of fashion, sustainability, and artistic innovation, Sejauh Mata Memandang has build a reputation as more than a slow-fashion brand - it is known as an advocate for conscious living.

During the Lunar New Year, the fashion label launched a playful scarf to commemorate the Year of the Wood Snake, offering not just a chic accessory but also an interactive twist, featuring the beloved classic game of snakes and ladders.
