Publicis Groupe hands Anthony Wong regional chief client officer role

Publicis Groupe has named Anthony Wong to the newly created role of chief client officer, Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa. Based in Singapore, Wong (pictured) will be leading the agency's APAC and MEA agenda for clients' transformation, building new solutions for them and tapping on the agency's talents and capabilities to implement innovative products. He will report to Loris Nold, CEO, Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa.

Before joining Publicis Groupe, Wong was head of marketing at Chinese fintech start-up app livibank. According to Wong's LinkedIn, he led all aspects of the consumer experience and ecosystem for livibank. Prior to that, he was the executive VP for Shangri-La Group for more than two years, during which he led all aspects of the brand's experiences and digital transformation, his LinkedIn said.

He also held senior regional and global leadership positions at WPP, such as regional president of global clients and strategy consuulting at Ogilvy Asia pacific and global client lead on Huawei. Before joining the advertising world, Wong began his career in investment banking and in the media and entertainment industry in the US.

According to Publicis Groupe, Wong has helped companies transform digital experiences to drive better operational efficiencies, eCommerce performance and customer experience. Wong believes that Publicis' "truly differentiating assets" in both data and technology, combined with the unique ability to assemble agile solutions for clients are "in particular game changers". "As such, I am looking forward to partner with our clients deeply to accelerate marketing and business transformation and growth together," he added.

Meanwhile, Nold said Wong brings what the agency's key clients and and need in their partner. He also said that Wong has a unique experience, combining senior roles at clients and at agencies both regional and global.

"I have known him for many years and he is a proven leader in marketing and digital business transformation. With our country model fully in place, our practices and products significantly strengthened both locally and regionally, there is no better time to bring someone with Wong’s outstanding profile and pedigree," Nold added.

Separately, Publicis Groupe was recently appointed by Mondelēz International to manage global content production and management duties alongside MediaMonks. Publicis Groupe will manage content production for Europe, while MediaMonks will manage the brand's global tech infrastructure, global websites and content production for Asia, Middle-East and Africa, North America, and Latin America. The appointments are effective immediately with phased transitions beginning in January next year. All transitions are expected to finalise by the end of 2021.
