Prudential changes unofficial Chinese name, drops 'the UK' portion

Insurance company Prudential has changed its unofficial Chinese name as part of its rebranding programme, effective from 1 March.
In a statement, Prudential said the name "英國保誠有限公司" will be changed to "保誠有限公司". That is, the company deleted "the UK" in its Chinese name. Prudential said the change of the unofficial Chinese name was carried out as part of its rebranding as Prudential has moved to exclusively focus on Asia and Africa, following the demerger with Jackson Financial in September 2021.
The company added that the change of the unofficial Chinese name will not affect any rights of the shareholders of Prudential or Prudential’s daily business operation and its financial position. Meanwhile, the English name of Prudential remains unchanged as “Prudential plc”. The English and Chinese stock short names of Prudential also remain unchanged as “PRU” and “保誠”, respectively.
Prudential’s unofficial Chinese name is used for identification purposes only and Prudential’s share certificates do not bear its Chinese name. All existing share certificates in issue bearing the English name of Prudential will, upon the change of unofficial Chinese name becoming effective, continue to be evidence of title to Prudential shares and valid for delivery, trading, settlement and registration purposes.
As one of the biggest insurance companies in Hong Kong, Prudential has been rolling out new offerings to meet the needs of citizens. Previously, it partnered with digital healthcare provider MyDoc to allow its wellness app users to schedule video consultations with a doctor.
The insurance company said the new service on its Pulse app came at a time of intense pressure on Hong Kong’s public health services, as well as a growing appetite among the public for digital health solutions as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Through the app, users of Pulse can schedule video consultations with a locally licensed doctor, obtain electronic prescriptions and electronic medical certifications, as well as receive delivery of prescribed medication within four hours at the comfort of their home.
MyDoc's doctors are capable of assessing common symptoms such as colds, flu, sinusitis and respiratory tract infections. They have also been trained to assess if an individual is suspected to have COVID-19 in a virtual setting.
