Property tech company, PropertyGuru Group, has appointed Disha Goenka Das as chief marketing officer (CMO). As CMO, Das (pictured) will oversee the group’s brand strategy, corporate communications function, as well as the environmental, social and governance (ESG) mandate. Das is part of PropertyGuru's Group leadership team and will report to CEO and managing director, Hari V. Krishnan.

Das is a seasoned executive having led strategic marketing and communications teams and cross-functional work streams for tech companies internationally, working extensively across 30 and more markets in Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Americas. Most recently, Das served as the senior global director of marketing at Twitter where she led the global strategy and built Twitter’s business brand globally. Previously, Das spent a decade at Google where in her last role she was head of ad product commercialisation for Asia Pacific. Das’s appointment follows the group’s announcement of its brand repositioning – "Where every step of your journey will be guided by Guru".

With over 17 years of deep brand experience and expertise in marketing, Das will help accelerate the group’s growth trajectory across five markets – Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia – as it creates Southeast Asia’s trust platform for property. Das will also build the ESG mandate for the group and focus on creation of long-term financial and social value for stakeholders by integrating material ESG issues into company strategy.

Krishnan said, “We are excited to have Das join the team as our CMO. She brings a strong skill set in technology marketing which is critical as we fuel PropertyGuru’s growth and guide all in the property sector to make confident decisions. Das’s rich experience will aid the group in our ambition to be a trusted advisor as we help people find, finance and own their homes.”

Das said that she is thrilled to join PropertyGuru Group at such an exciting and defining juncture in the company’s journey. The group’s vision and latest brand positioning, which seeks to be a trusted advisor that guides every step of the property journey deeply resonates with her. “My role is an exciting opportunity to contribute and make an impact on the group’s role in the Southeast Asia property industry and I look forward to bringing my experience in tech and marketing to help offer solutions that continue to better all our stakeholder experiences,” she added.

PropertyGuru Group’s former CMO and MD, fintech, Bjorn Sprengers, left the company after nine years and returned to the Netherlands late last year. According to the company, he was CMO until September last year and MD, fintech until last month. As CMO, Sprengers built a team of marketing gurus and was responsible for the company’s brand, performance marketing, marketing infrastructure and operations and corporate communications, the brand said. In his role as the MD, fintech, Sprengers led the group’s property financing solutions, including the launch of PropertyGuru Finance in 2020.

Sprengers grew the team from scratch and in September 2022, PropertyGuru Finance brokered a loan book of over SG$3 billion with strong customer satisfaction ratings, the spokesperson said.
