Pos Malaysia has issued a statement apologising on behalf of its chief executive officer Charles Brewer (pictured), after he faced public backlash for a snide response made to one of his staff who requested for a new uniform.
A post that went viral on X, shared by a user named @evvok on 18 April (Friday), reportedly showed screenshots of an internal Pos Malaysia employee engagement platform chat, where a worker shared a photo of a large tear in their uniform and requested for it to be replaced. The worker added that it was a customer who had brought the matter up.

However, the request was met with a snide remark by Brewer, who replied saying "Count yourself lucky that you don't work for one of the foreign carriers who don't provide uniform(s) at all."
The tweet drew severe backlash from netizens. Some called Brewer a cyberbully, while others even called the company out for hiring a foreigner as its CEO. Some users also tagged Charles Brewer on X, but according to checks by A+M, the account remains private.
One reply to the X post read: "It's called basic worker's rights. It's unjustifiable for you to [respond] like this. It is your responsibility and accountability for your workers to look presentable. The fact that he stated his concerns professionally, it is arrogant for you to reply [in this way]."
As the issue went viral, Pos Malaysia posted a statement on its Facebook page to address the matter.
"We acknowledge the recent social media posts referencing an internal matter on 19 March 2025 involving a damaged uniform. Immediate actions were taken to engage directly with the employee concerned, and the matter has been fully resolved," the statement sighted by A+M read.
"Charles Brewer, our group chief executive officer, has conveyed his apologies to the staff involved and extends his apologies to anyone who may have been affected or offended by his comment. He acknowledges that he should have responded with greater empathy and commits to continuing to foster a respectful and supportive environment for all Pos Wiras."
Additionally, the national courier and postal company also assured that it will be improving its internal processes to ensure that uniform replacements are done in a more timely and efficient manner to support its staff in delivering on its service commitments to the community.
Brewer was appointed as the group CEO of Pos Malaysia in August 2021. The company said at the time, that Brewer brought with him a wealth of experience in logistics and postal services as he started his career with DHL in 1984 and spent 34 years with the company, according to a Bernama report.
Brewer was also previously a COO for Canada Post between 2020 to 2021, and was on the board of directors for SCI Group. Currently, he also serves as a professor of practice at Saito University College on a part-time basis, and is also a part-time adjunct professor for UNITAR International University.
