Pizza Hut Indonesia celebrates Independence Day with 'merah putih' pizza

Pizza Hut has launched a patriotic four-sided merah-putih (red-white) pizza in celebration of Indonesia’s upcoming Independence Day on 17 August. Resembling the national flag, the pizza’s red upper half is tomato-based and topped with beef sausage, beef patty, beef bits and mozzarella cheese; while the lower half consists of white cheese sauce, white mozzarella and parmesan cheese. The pizza chain's Facebook post also added that the pizza has "crispy cheese to the edge to make the moment of celebrating independence from home even more festive".

The 24-piece rectangular pizza measures 36x25 cm and is available for dine-in, takeaway as well as delivery on Grab, Gojek and Shopeefood, and will be available indefinitely until further notice. CMO Wawa Suwanto told MARKETING-INTERACTIVE that the offering is currently promoted through digital and social media channels in Indonesia. "We hope customers will enjoy Pizza Merah Putih as part of their celebrations for Independence Day," Suwanto added.

Meanwhile, Pizza Hut appointed Ogilvy Indonesia to manage integrated marketing duties covering integrated above-the-line and digital (including social), following a multi-agency pitch earlier this February. The agency was tasked with managing the strategic communications efforts across both the restaurant and delivery business.

Last year, the company’s delivery arm partnered Xaxis and MediaCom to consolidate its online and offline consumer data in a bid to compete in the oversaturated QSR landscape. This aimed to ensure Pizza Hut Delivery’s marketing efforts reached “only the most relevant audience with the most relevant creatives” to drive outcomes, and recently started running more programmatic campaigns.

Separately, F&B players in Singapore have also formed unexpected partnerships in celebration of the nation's birthday on 9 August. From Yeo's and Shopee to Burger King and Deliveroo, these brands found creative ways to stay on top of consumers' minds with limited-edition t-shirts and burgers.
