PHD China names Cynthia Zhang as new chief client officer

PHD China has elevated Cynthia Zhang (pictured) to be chief client officer, a newly created role to evolve clients’ experience. She will report to Joey Zhao, CEO of PHD China and will officially assume her new role immediately.

The elevation aligns with the agency’s goal to strengthen its client leadership by building on the strong foundations of the client community and deliver top notch media practice for clients. In her new role, Zhang will look after PHD China's client strategy, exploring opportunities in both current business and new business.

Commenting on the appointment, Joey Zhao, CEO of PHD China, said: "The elevation showcases our commitment to PHD’s brand partners. Zhang has devoted her entire career to PHD and our sister companies, which shaped her an expert of PHD's brand proposition, products and platform. As chief client officer, she will continue to implement PHD's strategy and philosophy, bringing a new harmony of co-creation to clients."

Zhang is a media agency veteran with 20 years of industry experience. Prior to the promotion, Zhang had helmed the role of managing director of PHD Shanghai for over five years. She was responsible for leading her team and created integrated solutions of omnichannel data and digital analysis. According to the press release, Zhang’s team had helped PHD achieve 100% client retention rate from 2021 to 2022, and their "rapid response" and "quality services" had received high appraisal.

Under her leadership, PHD China has a 300% annual new business growth and expanded its client portfolio across a wide range of industry and won major accounts such as Chanel, Vitasoy and Ekaterra."I feel very lucky to work with PHD's diligent talents and teams. In the future, we will continue to recommend PHD's positive, constructive and innovative solutions to our clients, so as to echo their needs in this market," said Zhang.

According to her LinkedIn, Zhang had helmed the role of managing partner at Omnicom Media Group (OMG) for over 10 years before she joined PHD. She was planning director of McDonald's team. Zhang's experiences covered automotive, IT, FMCG, pharmaceutical and Internet industries, and had served leading brands such as Nokia, SONY, McDonald’s, Intel, HP, Cisco, SAIC Volkswagen and Porsche.
