In celebration of World Skyscraper Day, the PETRONAS Twin Towers has created heartfelt and playful messages for fellow iconic skyscrapers in Malaysia.

The campaign brought together Malaysia's architectural giants, sparking joy and conversation among thousands of followers, and reaffirms PETRONAS Twin Towers’ position as both a leader and a cultural icon, according to a statement seen by A+M.

In a series of social media posts, the Twin Towers sent wishes to the KL Tower, Exchange 106 and Merdeka 118. In its message to the KL Tower, the Twin Towers said it is "still one of the tallest in the city" and how it has kept an "eye on us all these years as the eldest".

In its message to the KL Tower, the Twin Towers said it is "still one of the tallest in the city" and how it has kept an "eye on us all these years as the eldest".

In a message to Exchange 106, Twin Towers called it "one of the new kids on the block" while it's message to Merdeka 118 took on a nostalgic spin.

"I remember being able to see over you at one point, look at you now, all grown up," said Twin Towers' message to Merdeka 118.

As the city’s skyline continues to grow, the friendly collaboration between towers stands as a testament to the unity and inspiration they bring to Kuala Lumpur and beyond.

"As one of the most iconic landmarks in Malaysia, we are proud to have been part of this unique celebration of World Skyscraper Day," said Ismaliza Ismail, acting director of PETRONAS Twin Towers Visit Experience team.

"Our skyline is a symbol of progress, innovation, and unity, and through this campaign, we were able to engage with our fellow architectural giants in a fun and meaningful way. It’s a reminder that, no matter how high we rise, we continue to be part of something larger — a shared skyline that inspires people across the globe," added Ismaliza.

The social campaign was created in collaboration with Fishermen Integrated.

“It’s rare to see landmarks as famous as these engaging with each other in such a fun and light-hearted way. We wanted to bring them together to celebrate their role in shaping the skyline while honouring their unique contributions to Malaysia’s cityscape," said Andrew Tan, executive creative director of Fishermen Integrated.

Following the social posts, KL Towers, Merdeka 118 and Exchange 106 responded with Merdeka 118 saying, "We are reaching for the sky inspired by your global footsteps."

“The organic engagement and responses from KL Tower, Merdeka 118, and Exchange 106 were a highlight of this campaign. It was a real conversation between the icons of the city, and the comments and likes we received show that the audience loved seeing their favourite buildings interact in this way," said Chong Wei Ling, head of social media at Fishermen Intergrated.

Earlier this year, numerous iconic buildings in Malaysia were featured in a fake out-of-home campaign by HBO Go. In celebration of the platform's season two release of House of the Dragon, landmarks across Asia were taken over with banners to pledge allegiance to the show's Team Black or Team Green.

In Malaysia, the PETRONAS Twin Towers stood proudly for Team Black while the Merdeka Square was covered in green banners for Team Green.
