Danny Tan (pictured) has stepped down from his role as SVP and Omnicom PR Group SG after working at the agency for close to five years. According to Tan's LinkedIn, he first joined the agency in March 2017, where he took on the role as vice president. MARKETING-INTERACTIVE has reached out to Omnicom PR Group for comment. Tan said he had joined Omnicom PR Group as he had wanted to try his hand at working with more consumer-facing brands, which was also where " where most of the sophisticated integrated communications work was for PR practitioners".
Prior to joining Omnicom PR Group, Tan spent about eight years handling mostly government, tech and B2B clients. He previously worked at MSLGROUP as associate director. In his role, he lead the growing government communications and public affairs practice, served as lead counsel for regional communications programmes across Asia Pacific for Fortune 100 companies, and collaborated with Publicis Groupe agencies on new business opportunities, with a focus on integrated communications campaigns.
Prior to that, he held the role of senior consultant where, in addition to his former duties as account manager, he led B2B and B2C digital programmes from strategy to execution; including social media audits, designing social conversation calendars and community management across Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. Tan has also worked as a senior associate at Burson-Marsteller, where he handled communciations and account management, media relations, digital projects and in-country marketing for the Singapore market.
Separately, Mercedes-Benz consolidated global marketing communications duties with Omnicom Group last month, following a six-month selection process including for the PR function. The appointment takes effect from January 2022 under the name "Team X". The team will also have cross-divisional responsibility for a large number of Mercedes-Benz business units in more than 40 markets worldwide.
The new appointment comes after Mercedes-Benz merged its internal communication and marketing departments, and will create a fully integrated, global agency model - from performance content development to media playout and success measurement. Globally Omnicom Group has also agreed to acquire Oliver Schrott Kommunikation GmbH (OSK), one of Germany's leading public relations and communication agencies. OSK serves some of the world's best-known brands, including Mercedes-Benz, Harman, Siemens and ZF. OSK will operate as a stand-alone brand within Omnicom Public Relations Group and has a broad portfolio of communication services at the intersection of PR, social media and marketing.
Since its founding in 1993, OSK has established an international presence with more than 225 people located in offices in Germany, China and the United States. Omnicom Group will bring together specialists across disciplines within its existing agency network in China, the US and Europe.
