Ogilvy Malaysia has promoted Jaz Lee to the position of executive creative director (ECD). In his new role, Lee will oversee the creative work across the agency with a strong focus on clients such a Cadbury Dairy Milk, Guinness and Colgate-Palmolive, according to a statement by the agency.

Lee will also be working closely with Adrian Miller, Ogilvy Malaysia's chief creative officer in his new role. His promotion is also a notable one, considering that he will be one the youngest ECDs in Malaysia, said Ogilvy.

True enough, as seen on his LinkedIn page, Lee began his career at 19, as a junior copywriter at Leo Burnett, before working up to helm the roles of copywriter, creative group head and associate creative director at the same agency.

He then moved to Ogilvy Malaysia in 2019 where he joined as a creative director from 2019 to 2023, before being promoted to his current role of executive creative director.

Since his start at the agency, Lee’s experience includes global brands such as Samsung, Guinness, Cadbury, Coca-Cola, Nestle, and Petronas.

"Lee’s promotion to executive creative director is a remarkable milestone in his career, and we are immensely proud that it happened here at Ogilvy," said Miller. "His passion, dedication, and relentless pursuit of ideas make him the perfect right-hand man to help me continue pushing the boundaries of creativity for our clients. We look forward to the exceptional work Lee will lead as we strive to deliver the best results and standout campaigns,” he added.

Lee shared his excitement about his new role, saying that his promotion marks a huge milestone in his career.

“I couldn't be prouder for it to happen in Ogilvy alongside Miller, a creative leader I deeply respect as the best in the business. Other than that, it's business as usual as we keep pushing to do the best work of our lives for our clients, every single day," he said.

Earlier this year, Ogilvy Malaysia underwent a restructure under a unified leadership to be more cost efficient.

The move came almost a year after Ogilvy Asia appointed Kunal Jeswani to the new group CEO role for Ogilvy Singapore and Malaysia, succeeding Chris Riley. Jeswani was last with Ogilvy in India for the last 17 years. He has been CEO of Ogilvy India since 2015. Prior to that, Jeswani was the chief digital officer of Ogilvy India. During his tenure as CEO, Ogilvy claims that its India office has gone from strength to strength as a leading agency in the India market.

The integration journey of the agency in two markets was announced as early as 2021, along with a new organisational structure that sees a newly integrated leadership team offering cross functional operational management. According to Ogilvy, the new structure was aligned with a global direction to provide integrated solutions in the five core businesses of growth and innovation; advertising, brand and content; PR and influence; experience; and health.
