Octopus Cards has partnered with over 60 brands to introduce a shopping rewards programme, offering a total of HK$8.28 million cashback in two weeks.

Also known as "8.28 JoyYou Fest" (8.28 樂悠節), the programme is running from Wednesday (28 August) to 10 September. This is Octopus Cards’ first celebration campaign in Hong Kong that caters to the lifestyle of JoyYou card holders, according to its LinkedIn post.

The programme aligns with the Hong Kong government's “$2 scheme” transit subsidy, which is available to JoyYou card holders, consisting of Hong Kong residents aged 60 and above and other eligible persons.

According to Octopus Cards, Hong Kong has long maintained the global record for the highest life expectancy across both genders. The programme aims to encourage its older, but young-at-heart customers to venture out, indulge in dining, and socialise more with their loved ones.

The partnership encompasses a diverse array of brands, such as Café de Coral, Starbucks Hong Kong, Hong Kong Maxim's Group, PARKnSHOP, Watsons Hong Kong, and Tam Jai International. These brands will offer limited-time promotional deals at over 3,500 consumption locations.

Furthermore, JoyYou card holders can earn HK$8.28 million in rewards as they shop and dine with JoyYou Card. Throughout the campaign duration, they will receive an HK$8 cash rebate for every HK$100 spent at participating merchants, with a maximum rebate of up to HK$800 per user.

Octopus Cards has thanked the Labour and Welfare Bureau's acting secretary Ho Kai-ming and Legislative Council member (wholesale and retail constituency) Peter Shiu, as well as its merchant partners for their support. MARKETING-INTERACTIVE has reached out to Octopus Cards for more information.

Back in July, Octopus Cards introduced a series of new measures to assist micro and small business owners in easing cost pressure, expanding their customer base, and enhancing their competitiveness.

Octopus now permanently waives “Bank Account Fund Transfer Fees (service fees)” for the first HK$10,000 in transactions for all micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) using the Octopus App for business in Hong Kong.
