Octopus Holdings has appointed Jeny Yeung (pictured) as the Group's new non-executive chairman effective 1 January 2023. She will be succeeding David Eldon who has been in office since 1 January 2016, and will retire after seven years of service on 31 December 2022.

The board of directors expresses their gratitude to Eldon for stewarding digital transformation, fast-tracking online and mobile strategies, as well as spearheading product diversification with the aim of deepening market penetration and establishing a robust track for the future.

"I am delighted to welcome Yeung, whose expertise and vigour will drive the development of the Octopus Group into its next chapter. The role of chairman is pivotal in charting the way for the Group in an increasingly complex operating environment. I am confident that the Group will continue to progress and thrive under Yeung's leadership," said Eldon.

Yeung is currently the Hong Kong transport services director of MTR Corporation, and has overall responsibility for the Corporation’s railway transport operations and its commercial businesses in Hong Kong, including the metro network, the Airport Express and the High Speed Rail.

She is currently the chairlady of Ngong Ping 360, and has been a non-executive director of Octopus Holdings, Octopus Cards and Octopus Cards Client Funds since 1 March 2021.

Commenting on her appointment, Yeung said, “I feel very privileged to take on this role at a time when digital transformation is bringing major shifts to the payments industry, while Octopus services are becoming more integrated into customers’ everyday lives. I am excited to be working closely with the Group's senior management and my fellow colleagues of the board, to steer our home-grown brand to scale new heights in meeting customers' diverse payment needs, and fulfilling Octopus' mission in making people's lives easier."
