Courier and logistic provider Ninja Van has laid off 5% of its workforce in Singapore as it assesses its alignment with future needs.
In a statement to MARKETING-INTERACTIVE, a Ninja Van spokesperson explained that earlier this year, it announced its expansion into other logistics verticals of B2B restock and cold chain, made possible with its existing e-commerce infrastructure and tech-enabled logistics solutions.
They said:
In line with the group’s direction, we have reviewed the roles within the organisation to assess its alignment with our future needs.

As a result, it said that it was unable to avoid layoffs which impacted 5% of its staff in Singapore.
"Individuals with transferable skills have been transitioned to support our newly launched verticals in B2B restock and cold chain," they added.
Ninja Van also explained that affected employees have received a "reasonable" severance package to support their transition beyond Ninja Van.
Affected employees generally received one month of severance pay per full year of employment, medical insurance and mental health support till 31 December 2024, garden leave, career transition support and more.
The company chat and office access will also be kept to facilitate proper handovers and farewell, they said.
The news comes just months after Ninja Van laid off about 10% of region's tech team in April.
"In line with the group’s direction, our tech department has been actively implementing cost-control measures, including infrastructural reorganisation and outsourcing," it said.
Following a recent cost evaluation, it was determined that "less than 10%" of the region’s tech team is no longer required.
