Payments provider NETS has appointed Tammy Teo (pictured) as VP, corporate communications. She reports to Pamela Tan, CMO, NETS. In her new role, Teo is responsible for driving the development and implementation of a focused communications strategy for the NETS Group, which comprise NETS, NETS Solutions and  Banking Computer Services.

Teo told MARKETING-INTERACTIVE that she is excited to join NETS at a time when the financial sector is going through disruption. "The pandemic has accelerated digital adoption, and I believe NETS as a national e-payments provider is in a position to play a greater role to connect communities and empower lives, by making digital payments accessible for everyone. With borders opening, and consumers already used to transacting digitally, the time is right to implement various payment solutions to facilitate both inbound and outbound payment," she added.

Teo was formerly general manager at Gloo Communications, where she oversaw P&L responsibilities and day-to-day running of the communications agency, providing leadership and mentorship to the team, her LinkedIn stated. During her time there, she worked with clients such as Canon, Jabra, NETS, Playstation, Schneider Electric, Square Enix, ViewQwest and Warner Media.

Prior to that, Teo was with Courts Asia for close to eight years. According to her LinkedIn, she joined the company as regional head of communications, investor relations and strategy planning, a newly created leadership role. She was then promoted to director of marketing and strategy planning in 2019. Teo was responsible for integrated communications and investor relations in line with requirements of a Singapore-listed entity, including sustainability reporting. Teo also previously worked at companies such as Sony Mobile Communications, Huntington Communications and Raffles Hotel.

Separately, NETS launched a new brand campaign in January 2020 – #NETSTakeOnMe – to reflect its first-ever brand refresh since inception in 1985. According to the company, the new NETS reflects a “strong, progressive and dynamic brand” that hopes to showcase a holistic, seamless and simple brand experience. The brand refresh comes as NETS celebrates its 35th anniversary and according to the company, more initiatives, new products and market launches are in the pipeline for the year.

CMO Pamela Tan said then that the brand refresh was an important strategic step for the company. “NETS’ brand personality has evolved and we’re delighted with the new look and feel of the brand. To connect better with our customers, the idea was to reposition the NETS brand as a payment of choice that can deliver various on-the-go lifestyle experiences to young and old," she added.
