Naga DDB Tribal has bagged a slew of new clients during the first half of the year, with Luno Malaysia handing the agency creative duties and Genting SkyWorlds Theme Park appointing it for social media duties. Both appointments are for a year. More recently, it was also reappointed by KFC Malaysia as the core agency that will drive new growth for the business.
Scarlett Chai, Luno Malaysia's country marketing manager, said right from the pitch presentation itself, Luno could feel the chemistry between both parties.
"They understood what it would take to present a complex product like cryptocurrencies to Malaysians in a way that was simple yet engaging. We are excited about our upcoming campaign 'Move With Luno', featuring iconic Malaysians such as Pandelala Rinong (Olympic Diver) and Zaquan Adha (Professional Footballer). We are pleased with the strategy and insights as well as the commitment that the Naga DDB team has demonstrated thus far," she said.
Additionally, the LEXUS brand under Munchy's as well as Nippon Paint also reappointed Naga DDB Tribal. These are on a project basis. Wong Meng Lee, assistant GM of Nippon Paint, said Naga DDB Tribal was the agency responsible for the iconic Nippon Blobby almost 15 years ago, so it was only fitting that they worked together on the next marketing campaign. "No other agency understands us better than Naga DDB Tribal, and it is nice to be working with the same team and familiar faces, like Alvin and Guan again," Wong said.
The agency's COO Clarence Koh said it has maintained its focus throughout 2020 and 2021 in supporting its existing clients through the most critical times of their businesses, which are mostly in the essential industries.
"As a result of the agency’s relentless pursuit in creativity and effectiveness, we have continued to produce some of our best work despite the various challenges brought upon by the pandemic. We are optimistic about the journey ahead as the indicators since the first half of 2022 have been largely positive for us," Koh said.
Aside from the new business wins, the agency also beefed up its team with the appointments of Hajar Yusof as head of digital experience, Nik Radzi as ECD, and Farrah Harith-Mcpherson as chief growth officer.
"Three months into joining Naga, I can see the genuine care and competencies that our agency teams have for our clients’ brands. It’s not surprising why clients such as Grab, Bata, and Danone have assigned projects to the agency without a pitch," Harith-Mcpherson said.
Meanwhile, the agency's CEO Kristian Lee said the team is honoured and thankful that its new and existing clients have chosen to place their trust in Naga DDB Tribal.
"The opportunities given to us provide additional impetus for the agency to continue to improve and evolve our service offerings to meet their current and future needs. Moving forward, it is also our intent to actively pursue new business acquisition from various categories to add to our portfolio. We believe that engaging with different industries will inherently expand our mindsets and push our capabilities to greater heights. As it stands, we are blessed to have an extremely progressive and forward-thinking portfolio of clients and it is our responsibility to not only match their ambitions, but strive to exceed their expectations as well," he explained.
