Malaysia can emulate China's technological and technical expertise, said communications minister Fahmi Fadzil.

In a statement, the minister said that the technology developed by China Media Group (CMG) seeks to improve the quality of broadcasting content by taking into account artificial intelligence (AI) which is increasingly widely used today.

China has also pioneered ultra-high definition 8K broadcasting, said Fahmi. The minister then expressed his excitement to see young people serving CMG in producing either AI or augmented reality (AR) content, as well as several new types of technology.

He added that Malaysia needs to see how organisations such as Bernama and RTM can take advantage of new technologies. Fahmi made these comments after visiting CMG's office in Beijing during his work visit to China.

At the same time, Fahmi said that the joint-venture agreement between Altel and Geespace on satellite technology could provide an ideal solution to improve connectivity in remote areas, reported The Star.

Additionally, Fahmi reportedly highlighted that real-time translation technology could also be utilised, particularly in the film industry, to attract a larger audience that speaks different languages.

The minister reportedly added that he observed many potential opportunities such as the creation of exportable content to China. This includes micro-dramas that are under one minute in length.

Earlier in June this year, Malaysia and China celebrated its 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties. Minister Fahmi regarded the 50th anniversary a significant milestone and said that the established ties are an opportunity to enhance further cooperation.

Speaking to reporters after attending a dinner commemorating the 50th anniversary, the minister reportedly added that the two nations can build together and ensure that the Southeast Asian region becomes more prosperous and peaceful.

In addition, he said the close relationship with China would positively impact the ASEAN alliance, according to Bernama
