MR D.I.Y has released a stirring patriotic anthem to celebrate the upcoming Merdeka and Malaysia Day celebrations. The three-minute song, titled Bersama satu suara ('With one voice'), symbolises Malaysia's rich cultural tapestry and unity.
It was penned by winners of MR D.I.Y's Merdeka lyric competition, Tee Tian Chi, Daaris Amri, and Siti Madihah. The song was performed by the nation's favourite musical talents Alif Satar, Jaclyn Victor, Priscilla Abby and band The Locos.
The lyrics showcase the linguistic diversity of Malaysia, with performances in Malay, Mandarin, Tamil and English.

The Bersama satu suara anthem is available for all Malaysians to enjoy and sing along to on MR D.I.Y.’s social media platforms, including YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, Xiaohongshu, and music streaming services such as Spotify, and Apple Music.
Accompanying the anthem is the brand's first-ever music video.
“This is MR D.I.Y’s first-ever music video. We are continuously looking for ways to celebrate the unique relationship we have with Malaysians; this song is a perfect way to do it. Bersama satu suara is more than just a song; it is a symbol of our collective pride, unity, and joy as Malaysians. We hope the song will bring Malaysians together, celebrating the unity that defines our nation," said Alex Goh, group head of marketing of MR D.I.Y.
“We thank the wonderful team of singers, lyricists, and musicians who came together to create this song for MR D.I.Y and all Malaysians - you have beautifully captured the depth and diversity of Malaysia," added Goh.
As part of its Merdeka Day celebrations, MR D.I.Y. will be organising a three-day Bersama satu bazaar ('With one bazaar') celebration at the PIAZZA, level three, Pavilion Bukit Jalil from 30 August to 1 September 2024.
Malaysians who swing by at the celebration will be able to see the stars perform the patriotic anthem, as well as participate in workshops and games and enjoy delicious local food. Lively performances will also be present.
Visitors will also be able to explore an array of offerings from the MR D.I.Y. group range of brands including MR D.I.Y., MR. TOY, MR. DOLLAR and EMTOP, as well as some renowned local brands.
In tandem with the celebrations, MR D.I.Y. stores nationwide will host the Bersama satu promosi ('With one promotion') offering a wide selection of Merdeka-themed items, including Malaysia and state flags in various sizes, selected household essentials and electrical items, as well as snacks and beverages.
This campaign comes after MR D.I.Y took over OOH spaces across Malaysia in a campaign titled Jiran sejati, sentiasa di sisi ('A true neighbour, always by your side'), also featuring talent Alif, who appeared on billboards.
A series of web films were also released on MR D.I.Y's social media pages as part of the campaign featuring Alif.
The campaign aims to enhance the brand's bond with Malaysians as a chosen and reliable home improvement retailer.
In addition, MR D.I.Y introduced panda-themed seatings at Ampang Park LRT Station as part of the campaign too. The seats provided comfort for commuters and added a whimsical touch to the station. It also highlighted the brand's dedication to enhancing public spaces and creating enjoyable experiences for all Malaysians.
