Malaysian home improvement retailer, MR D.I.Y. Group, has launched a new game tournament, called “Bounce & Bingo” to encourage Malaysian families to team up and play together. This comes as it looks to make trips to its stores more exciting for consumers.
Participants nationwide stand a chance to win cash and prizes worth up to RM25,000. Customers can form two-player teams to participate at selected MR D.I.Y. stores. The game involves throwing ping pong balls into an egg carton-like grid, with the aim being to land a straight line of balls within the grid to form a Bingo.

The game is divided into two stages, with stage one aimed at shortlisting 16 teams to represent the 13 states and three federal territories in Malaysia.
Following that, stage two will bring the 16 teams into a grand finale at MR D.I.Y. PLUS, Mid Valley Megamall in Kuala Lumpur. The winner will be crowned champion of the MR D.I.Y.’s “Bounce & Bingo” game tournament.
Alex Goh, MR D.I.Y. Group’s head of marketing, said that the brand aims to deliver its promise of “Always Low Prices” to customers. “One of the ways we are doing that is by organising thrilling and enjoyable activities, such as games or contests, that everyone can join,” he added.
In conjunction with the game tournament, selected MR D.I.Y. stores in Johor, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu will also offer training and practice opportunities for customers before the game.
The game tournament comes shortly after MR D.I.Y. announced its plans in August to expand to 180 new stores in Malaysia by the end of 2023. The move was aimed at reaching more market centres and less urban areas to meet the needs of the underserved value shopper.
“We are also highly encouraged by the significant progress in the recovery of our profit margins despite current operating challenges, which is a convincing indicator of the strength and resiliency of the business,” said MR D.I.Y’s CEO, Adrian Ong, at the time.
