Hotelier Accor & Ennismore's sub brand Mondrian Hotel Hong Kong has handed its PR duties to local communications agency Companion Communications following a competitive pitch in February.
The appointment will last for one year and covers only Hong Kong market. Under the agreement, Companion will oversee PR, marketing communications, storytelling, partnerships and content creation for the hotel as a whole and its two dining outlets Carna and Avoca.
Companion was chosen as it covers both travel and dining PR, which is key to Mondrian's communications strategy as it continues to build its reputation in Hong Kong, said Dominique Backhouse, managing director of Companion, in a conversation with MARKETING-INTERACTIVE.
“We will be covering both F&B outlets Carna and Avoca, as well as their arts and culture campaigns and their rooms,” she added.
Backhouse said: "The Mondrian Hotel Hong Kong has been an amazing addition to the city's hospitality offer, delivering exciting dining options at Carna and Avoca, while staying at the top of their game with accommodation, programming and cultural events. We are really thrilled to have been named their PR partner in the Hong Kong market, helping to bring all their creative campaigns alive."
Launched in December 2023, Mondrian Hong Kong aimed to fulfil its promise of pushing boundaries, with oversized imagination, and instill the city with a refreshed take on luxury lifestyle and hospitality.
The hotel offers 324 guest rooms including 12 two-bay suites in the beating heart of Tsim Sha Tsui, one of Hong Kong’s most vibrant neighbourhoods, with elements inspired by Hong Kong’s rich history, design flourishes like a floating minibar and sweeping Victoria Harbour and island skyline vistas, plus curated works and performances by local artists.
Earlier this year, Mondrian has debuted its first hotel in Australia, Mondrian Gold Coast, inspired by the eclectic spirit of Burleigh and set within an architectural masterpiece. The hotel will offer 208 rooms and suites with spectacular views over the Pacific Ocean, including the all-new Beach Houses complete with private plunge pools, bespoke kitchen and bar areas and dedicated street access.
Two restaurant and bar concepts pay homage to the region’s exquisite local produce and fresh-off-the-boat seafood, while embodying the conviviality and vibrancy of the Burleigh social scene.
